Privacy Policy

Your trust matters. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over your information.

Last updated: 17 July 2026

NamCab (“NamCab”, “we”, “us”) operates a ride-hailing and parcel-delivery platform in Namibia through the NamCab rider app and the NamCab Partner driver app. This policy applies to both apps and our website. By using our services you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run safe, reliable trips:

  • Account details — your name, phone number, and (optionally) email, used to create your account and verify your identity by one-time SMS code.
  • Location data — pickup and drop-off points, and live location during an active trip, so we can match you with a nearby driver and track the journey. Drivers share location while they are online.
  • Trip and payment information — your ride and delivery history, fares, and the cash-payment record for each trip.
  • Driver documents — for partners, we collect licence, vehicle, and registration details required to operate legally in Namibia.
  • Device and usage data — basic device information and app diagnostics used to keep the service stable and secure.

How we use your information

  • To request, match, price, and complete rides and deliveries.
  • To show drivers and riders each other's location and trip progress in real time.
  • To keep trips safe — including our in-app SOS and lost-and-found support.
  • To verify drivers and meet Namibian transport and tax requirements.
  • To provide support and respond to your requests.
  • To improve the reliability and security of our apps.

How we share information

We share information only as needed to provide the service. Riders and drivers see the limited details required to complete a trip (such as first name, vehicle, and live location). We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with service providers that help us operate (for example, mapping, messaging, and cloud hosting), and with authorities where the law requires it or to protect the safety of our users.

How we process your data

We process your personal information on these lawful grounds: to perform our contract with you (matching, pricing and completing trips); to meet a legal obligation (driver vetting, tax and transport requirements); with your consent (for example, precise location and optional communications); and for our legitimate interests in keeping the platform safe, secure and reliable.

We use trusted third-party processors to run the service, each bound to protect your data and use it only on our instructions:

  • Amazon Web Services — secure cloud hosting and file storage.
  • Google Maps Platform — maps, places and routing.
  • Google Firebase — push notifications.
  • Africa’s Talking — one-time SMS codes and messaging.
  • Resend — transactional email (receipts, statements, notifications).
  • PayToday (Namibia) — processes wallet top-up payments where offered. You enter your card or banking details on PayToday's secure payment page; NamCab never sees or stores them.

International transfers. Some of these providers store or process data outside Namibia (for example, on servers in other regions). Where this happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information remains protected to the standard described in this policy. A full, current data-processing notice — including sub-processors and transfer detail — is available on our Data Processing page.

Data retention

We keep your account and trip records for as long as your account is active and as required for legal, tax, and safety purposes. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

Your rights and choices

  • You can access and update your account details in the app.
  • You can control location permissions through your device settings; note that core trip features need location to work.
  • You can request deletion of your account and personal data by contacting us.

Security

We protect your data with industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) between our apps and servers and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission is perfectly secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your information.

Children

NamCab is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
